Program Note

When the zombie apocalypse hits her town at Christmas, teenager Anna and her school friends have to fight, sing and dance to survive. They soon find that being a teenager is just as tough as staying alive at the end of the world.

Program Note

Derived from the late Ryan McHenry’s short Zombie Musical (2011), John McPhail’s (Where Do We Go from Here?) high school zombie musical is a bloody good feast for both the eyes and ears deftly mastering the shifts in tone as a zombie apocalypse hits a small British town during the Christmas period. Teenager Anna (Ella Hunt) who clashes with her father, Tony (Mark Benton) over plans to travel to Australia after she graduates from high school faces a far grislier battle as zombies start devouring the town. With the draconian headmaster, Savage (Paul Kaye) turning into a nefarious menace, it’s up to Anna and her friends to take matters into their own hands and attempt to fight - and sing - their way through the countless zombies as they seek to find their loved ones including Anna’s father. From engrossing musical numbers to gruesome comedy along with moments of tragedy, it hits all the right notes in ways you’ll never forget. (Jason BECHERVAISE)
