1. Organization

The Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival is presented by the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival Organizing Committee and hosted by the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival Executive Committee.

2. Goal

The Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival aims to consolidate its identity as a ¡®Fantastic Film Festival¡¯ through recognizing Fantastic-Genre films and to provide a new and diverse perspective on Genre film. BIFAN also encourages the understanding of different cultures through the art of fantastic films and facilitates the exchange of ideas among film industry professionals from all around the world as well as those from Korea. Furthermore, the Festival's goals include, but are not limited to, promoting the production and distribution of fantastic films.

3. Overview & Schedule

Launched in 2008, the Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF) is the world¡¯s first project market dedicated exclusively to fantastic genre cinema. NAFF discovers and nurtures film and series projects by genre creators from around the world, supporting them throughout the entire process of entering the global film industry. The NAFF It Project is open to unfinished projects in the pre-production stage.

4. Eligibility

4.1

Open to feature film projects (genre films with a running time of 60 minutes or longer suitable for theatrical release) and series projects (genre series consisting of at least two episodes with a minimum running time of 40 minutes each).

4.2

Each project must have both a director and a producer attached.
*For directors: At least one short film or one feature-length film must have been directed.
*For producers: At least one feature-length film must have been produced, co-produced, or produced as a producer.

4.3

Projects must be in the pre-production stage, prior to the start of principal photography. Projects that have received other forms of production support or funding are eligible to apply; however, projects that have secured full production financing are not eligible.

4.4

If an applicant submits multiple projects, a separate application must be submitted for each project

4.5

Applicants must hold the copyright to the submitted project or be duly authorized to represent the copyright holder.

5. Project Entry Process

5.1

Applications must be submitted online via the designated submission platform.

5.2.

Submission is considered complete only upon payment of the submission fee via PayPal within the submission period.

5.3 Materials List

All required materials, with the exception of the production schedule, must be written in full sentences, and the required submission materials are listed below.

Logline (within 200 characters)

Synopsis (within 1500 characters, including the ending)

Treatment (up to 6 pages)
¡Ø For series projects, the treatment must include at least two episodes.

Director¡¯s statement (within 500 characters)

Biography of director/producer (within 400 characters)

Production schedule

Director¡¯s previous works (up to 3 titles)
- Burnt-in English Subtitles (for non-English works) are mandatory.
- Only films with an official release or screening history are eligible as previous works, with files verifying participation through credits.
- Trailers, music videos, and commercials will not be considered.
¡Ø If submitting video materials, applicants must upload the screening file to an online video platform (e.g. Vimeo, YouTube) and provide a valid and correct URL link and password accessible until the end of May.

5.4 Withdrawal and/or Cancellation of Selection

Should there be any intentional or unintentional misrepresentation or inaccurate information in the application, the Selection Committee reserves the right to cancel the project¡¯s selection.

5.5 Use of the Materials and Coverages

Materials provided by the Entrant may be used in Festival publications and promotional materials, including but not limited to official catalogs and promotional content produced before and after the Festival.

The Festival¡¯s promotional activities may include, but are not limited to, coverage through newspapers, broadcasting, magazines, and official online and social media channels.

The Festival will make reasonable efforts to prevent any infringement of intellectual property rights related to the selected films.

Submitted materials will not be returned or discarded unless otherwise requested by the Entrant.

6. Benefits of the Selected Projects

6.1

A roundtrip flight ticket and four nights of accommodation will be provided for the director, and four nights of accommodation will be provided for the producer of each selected project.

6.2

Complimentary BIFAN+ badges that provide full access to BIFAN will be offered to project representatives.

6.3

Selected projects will be offered opportunities for public project pitching and one-on-one business meetings with international film industry professionals during the market period.

6.4

Selected projects will receive promotional exposure through the official online and offline channels of the BIFAN and will be eligible for the BIFAN+ Awards.

7. Conditions for the Selected Projects

7.1

All required materials must be submitted in English, and all video materials must be subtitled in English.

7.2

The Festival may request additional visual materials, including but not limited to a poster-sized key image and a 5-minute video pitch, in order to effectively promote the project to industry professionals. Detailed specifications will be provided separately.

7.3

At least one project representative is required to attend all scheduled meetings.

7.4

Project representatives may not decline the pitching and meeting opportunities provided; however, schedule adjustments may be arranged through prior consultation in unavoidable circumstances.

7.5

NAFF does not provide translation or interpretation services for meetings. If project representatives bring their own interpreter, a day pass will be issued to that individual.

7.6

Upon completion, films selected for the NAFF It Project must include the credit ¡°Official Selection of the 2026 NAFF It Project¡± along with the BIFAN+ logo in the end credits. The logo will be provided upon request.

7.7

A final screener of the completed film must be submitted to the Festival for consideration as an official selection of BIFAN.

8. Miscellaneous

8.1 Property Rights

The Entrant is solely responsible for clearing all content included in the project of any actual or potential legal claims, including those related to music, stock footage, or other materials. The Festival disclaims any responsibility or liability for legal issues arising from the use of uncleared materials.

8.2 General Regulations

By completing the online submission process, the applicant is deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to all of the above submission regulations. Any matters not specified herein shall be determined at the discretion of the Festival.

8.3 Evaluation

Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

Applications without payment of the submission fee will not be considered.

The evaluation process and results for each project are confidential and will not be disclosed or provided individually.

9. Force Majeure and Exceptional Circumstances

In the event of force majeure, natural disasters, or other social or public emergencies, the above regulations may be subject to change. Should any amendments be required, related matters may be discussed and adjusted by mutual agreement.
