Synopsis
It is the late 1960s. A hippie returns to his hometown after years of absence. Despite townspeople's disapproving gaze, he nonchalantly and vigorously enjoys life back home. One night, he experiences something extraordinary when he encounters an alien girl rummaging through a barn. Turns out the girl and her gang from outer space have made an emergency landing on earth. Their agenda: Repair the spaceship and get the heck out of the planet. Fine. Question: Will the hippie want to let them go? A faithful follower of the family movie vocabulary, Saucer has many merits, one of which is the sufficiently controlled digital special effects that successfully capture the "analogue-ness" of the '60s. What also deserves credit is the gentle portrayal of the overall ideological landscape and confrontation of the cold war era. (PARK Sang Joon)
