Spain, Uruguay2023106min Asian Premiere

Synopsis

A mother faces her worst nightmare: her young daughter has been brutally murdered. Tormented and without trusting the police system, she decides to personally take care of the matter, kidnapping the alleged rapist and murderer of her daughter: a music teacher without any prior background. For this, she will be helped by a policeman who operates within the limits of the law.

Program Note

Detective Alonso, who continues his precarious investigation on the cusp of the law, starts pursuing the whereabouts of a suspect, a teacher named Elías, who has been mistakenly released due to administrative errors in a child murder case. Matilde, who believes Elías to be the perpetrator of her own daughter’s murder, believes that the time for revenge has finally come. Alonso and Matilde, who meet in pursuit of justice and the revenge law cannot bring, they spare no extreme methods to extract Elías’s confession. Ferocious Wolf remakes Big Bad Wolves, which received praise from Quentin Tarantino upon its release in 2013. Directed by Gustavo Hernández, the film preserves the tension and extreme emotions of the original work, a textbook for private revenge plots, while also scrutinizing Uruguay’s flawed justice system.
