Synopsis
Maire Linnanmaa, 51, is a lonely woman. Her husband works abroad and her children have all but forgotten her. To fulfill her sense of emptiness, she turns to alcohol and the curious kind of collecting newspaper clippings of people who have suffered some tragedy.Soon she is drawn to a widow and her young daughter. Their husband was killed in a barroom brawl, and the family has received no compensation. Raimo Gustavsson is the man who committed the crime, but who was heavily under the influence of alcohol and feels great remorse. Both the widow and the killer want to forget the past.However, Maire has no intention of seeing that happen. She tries to help the family while making the life of Raimo a difficult one.
