Synopsis

Orlando, working as a sports journalist, is obsessed with her family, especially, her youger brother. She carries a card in her wallet all the time, and there is one coated picture taken with her mother and younger brother in her childhood and often indulges in reminiscence of the past. Her husband, and architect, however, cannot understand her. Her husband is so upset and leaves home while he was trying to explain to Orlando that her brother is dead and the computer isolates people. The superior of Orlando also blames her for neglect and mistakes in duties. However, she takes the taxi on the street to the house and continuously seeks her brother in the cyber world. The process a female main character, Orlando, fell into a tragedy in her young age after she had a traffic accident is introduced by a montage with fragmental images and her inner voice heard from out of the screen. The camera angel looking down from a high position, dark light, are all frankly representing Orlando’s situation.(Kim, Sun-Yeop)

Michael H. Shamberg directed a documentary on artist Dan Graham and produced a short film with Patti Smith. He has also produced music videos with artists New Order, R.E.M. and the B52’s and directors such as Jonathan Demme, Robert Breer, Kathryn Bigelow or Charles Sturridge. < Souvenir >is his first feature.
