Shark Skin Man & Peach Hip Girl

Katsuhito Ishii

Japan1998 108min 35mm Color

Synopsis

The film opens as a young, determined woman, Toshiko, makes a daring escape from her sexually twisted uncle in the hope of making a better life for herself. Speeding away down the road, she sees a man wearing nothing but his underwear running through the woods. The Toyota in pursuit, unseen by Toshiko, crashes into her car. The nearly-naked Samehada gets behind the wheel, taking the unconscious Toshiko with him. So begins this wickedly offbeat getaway story replete with a gun-crazed assassin, a “knife-expert” with the razor-straight personality of a nine-to-fiver, a mafia brat with a fashion sense that must be seen to be believed, and a self-described “hitman” with no history of a hit. All are in pursuit of Samehada in order to rub him out and regain Sonezaki’s stolen loot.
