Synopsis

Tuval is a film which rises above spoken text and its inherent liavilites. Meaning is conveyed through the text of action and facial expression, rendering meaningless the language of the audience. It speaks in a form of communication that is universal. Anton is the apprentice to the master of the baths, but the old building is falling apart. Anton devotes his time convincing his blind father that the pool is indeed intact and full of customers, yet he is a longer who longs for the sea. Anton’s brother Gregor wants to destroy the baths and the whole town with it. He dreams of replacing his decrepit surroundings with a futuristic city. Eva shares Anton’s dreams. The two would have already left for the sea together had it not been for Gregor’s machinations. Anton tries to stop his brother and win back Eva’s heart. He will be triumphant in one action… but fail in the other.
