Program Note

Director Chang Hyunsang’s new film Zombie Crush in Heyri tells the story of the three women friends struggling to protect a village from the turmoil caused by the sudden appearance of zombies. In the peaceful Heyri Art Village in Paju, three friends: Jinseon, Hyunah and Gayeon, meet at the opening of the Heyri Art Center and, with a beginner Youtuber and a coffee factory CEO, face the zombie crisis.

There may be some correlation to the great confusion and uncertainty the world has been going through recently, but in a whimsical and delightful way, Zombie Crush in Heyri offers hope to everyone living in this age of turmoil. Jinsun is clumsy, but scrupulously takes care of the people around her. With lots of time and money on her hands, Hyunah has all-round capabilities, while Gayeon, a self-proclaimed witch, is goofy yet dynamic. These three hard-to-find friends are played by Gong Minjeong, Lee Minji and Park Sojin, with their individual charms clearly portrayed in this film. (MO Eun-young)
