Program Note

An exploration team travel to a remote island where the natives worship a mysterious deity known as Gappa. After discovering an egg and bringing it back to Tokyo, the egg hatches and a strange bird-lizard like creature appears. Soon the hatchlings ginormous parents come looking for their baby, destroying everything in their path.

Program Note

A Japanese expedition goes to Obelisk Island, a remote island in the south, and discovers an egg from a “Gappa,” which the natives worship as a god. The team takes the baby Gappa, which looks like a winged lizard, to Tokyo. But the Gappa’s parents come to Tokyo and begin to re energy beams and destroy everything. Nikkatsu’s first kaiju film and its first premier in Korea.
