Program Note

This is the tumultuous story of Manivelle, an automaton whose rise and fall mirrors that of Lebanon itself. Once the wonder of his age, today Manivelle is a rusty and mostly forgotten. Could the immortal 'Man of Tomorrow' really be dying and if so, what are his regrets?

Program Note

The documentary, which deals with ‘Robot Man’, starts with France presenting a robot human as a gift to Lebanon as part of its diplomacy. Once a page in history, the robot man being is gradually forgotten over time and its life comes to an end. After enjoying the slick and witty setting in the beginning, such as the old black-and-white news clips and interviews of robot man, the director’s sincere attitude toward the phases of time in Lebanon is portrayed in the middle of the film.
