Last Winter, We Parted is a mystery as well as a revenge play. Yakumo, a reporter, chases after a murder case of which a genius photographer Kiharazaka Yudai is suspected. This is a bizarre case in which the model is set on fire and photographed while burning to death. The court judged that it was an accident and Yudai was found not guilty. Yakumo believes that there is still evidence for reinvestigation, so he approaches Yudai and his sister. However, in turn, Yudai meets Yakumo’s fiancée and asks her if she could be his model. Could it be that Yudai is a psychopath who feels pleasure by taking photos of his victims? The flow of Last Winter, We Parted is straightforward. Yakumo’s goal is to reinvestigate the case which has already been closed in the court. And to reveal the truth, he has to gather new facts from the person directly involved in the case. He has to throw the bait which suits Yudai’s taste so that he is lured to spill the beans. Who is more cunning, Yakumo or Yudai? Last Winter, We parted presents an intense battle of wits and suspensefully draws the last twist by deliberately placing supporting roles such as Yudai’s sister or Yakumo’s fiancée. (KIM Bong-suk)
