Program Note

Teco is a young bakery assistant. After meeting a group of masked children who gather on the rooftops to escape the adult world, he has adventures climbing over the roofs of buildings.

Program Note

During a cigarette break on a rooftop, Teco, a young bakery assistant sees a strange seagull which suddenly falls to the ground. He starts jumping to rooftops to search for it. In the process, he meets weird ‘rooftop people’ such as children in masks, a pilot who fell to a rooftop, and angry nuns. Starting from a cigarette break and little curiosity, his rooftop adventure turns into a grand journey beyond religion, idea, time and generation. Teco is an innocent young man who is curious about everything and doesn’t make a quick judgment. He becomes a perfect guide to introduce strange rooftop people. The film isn’t just about one protagonist, Teco but about all the weird people in the community. In the sense that the film shows many characters in one-day events, it reminds us of Slackers (1990) by Linklater. The romantic and fairy-tale characters and imaginative scenes are much like the films of Michel Gondry. Risuleo won a prize at the Cannes Film Festival with his short film he made at the age of 24. This interesting film is his debut feature. (Ellen Y.D. KIM)
